Sariska Tiger Reserve - A Sanctuary of Serenity and Beauty

Located near Alwar, Rajasthan, Sariska Tiger Reserve is a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of nature, wildlife, and adventure together. Spanning over 800 square kilometers, this national park features the majestic Aravali mountains, cliffs, dry deciduous forests, and grasslands.

Sariska National Park Gates and Safaris

In Sariska National Park, there are two gates. The Sariska Gate is the first one from which you can enter 1,2 and 3 zones. Tehla Gate is another one through which you can enter the 4th zone. 

Two types of Safaris i.e. Jeep and Canter Safari can be found in Sariska. 

1. Jeep safari accommodates 6 people excluding the driver/guide. One can experience the beauty of the wildlife in Sariska much more closely in the same. 
2. Canter safari can accommodate 20 visitors excluding the guide. If you are in a group then it's better to choose this safari type to enjoy seeing the wildlife together. 

Places to Visit in and Around Sariska

The place is located 200 km from Delhi and Jaipur, it's only 100km thus making it an accessible spot for a long weekend. The place has many things to do that are enough to make one’s trip an unforgettable one. 
Jungle Safari: The main thing that attracts visitors to Sariska is the jungle Safari that one can enjoy inside the reserve. Sariska Tiger Reserve is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the untouched natural forest. Beyond tigers, the place is also home to other wildlife species like Striped Hyena, Wild Boar, Indian Leopard, Honey Badger, Golden Jackal, Monkeys, Sambar Deer and much more. 

In addition to the wildlife, the reserve has beautiful bird species like White Throated Kingfisher, Eagles, Grey Partridge, Owls, Woodpeckers, etc. Birdwatchers plan a trip to Sariska especially to see these rare bird species and capture beautiful photographs in the natural surroundings. 

Kankwari Fort: The Kankwari Fort is located in the Sariska Wildlife Reserve and it’s an ancient fort with rustic architecture. The fort looks like an age-old wonder now, but its scenic beauty is still intact and attracts tourists. Neelkantha Temple: It's another architectural marvel located within the Sariska National Park. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva; its stunning architectural beauty attracts visitors. 

Bhangarh Fort: Bhangarh Fort is near Sariska National Park. Built by Madho Singh in the year 1613, it’s known as one of the most haunted and dreaded places in India. Best Time to Visit Sariska Tiger Reserve

Winter (November-February): The winter months are perfect for wildlife sightings and to enjoy several outdoor activities. The weather is cool at this time and it is ideal for enjoying safari. Wildlife becomes more active with a drop in temperature so the chances to spot tigers and other animals at this time are quite high. 

Spring (March-April): The spring season brings a sense of magic to this park. The park is quite warm at this time but it's still possible to see wildlife near the water bodies. Also, the benefit of visiting the tiger reserve at this time is that it's less crowded as compared to winter. 

Summers (May-June): Planning Sariska Tiger Reserve during the hot summer months can be challenging but if you are a dedicated wildlife lover, you can give it a try. As water sources dry up, tigers may gather around other water holes thus increasing your chances of seeing them. 

Monsoon (July-September): This time brings a refreshing transformation to the park. The park looks greener because of the monsoon rains and it’s the best time for photography lovers to capture the flora’s beauty. Wildlife sightings may be limited at this time since the dense foliage offers camouflage for animals thus making them difficult to spot.  

How to Reach Sariska Tiger Reserve?

One can reach Sariska Tiger Reserve either by air, train, or road. 

By Air: Jaipur Airport is the nearest one to Sariska and after reaching there one has to book a taxi or bus for Sariska Tiger Reserve. 

By Train: If you are traveling by train, you need to stop at Alwar Junction which is the closest railway station to reach Sariska. 

By Road: If you are traveling from Delhi, it’s just about 200 km away and from Jaipur, it's about 110 Km away.
